Micro Loan Charity Challenge

As a Small Business owner in the USA, access to funding and investors is at your fingertips. We don’t often think about the struggles of those less fortunate than us, so DEC Tenants, it’s time to give back and participate in the first ever Micro Loan Charity Challenge!

Not only will you be helping fellow entrepreneurs turn their dreams into a reality, your support will also help spur economic development and provide access to essential resources the poverty-stricken communities of Burkina Faso might not have otherwise.

How do I participate?

Each DEC office has been assigned a block and a block leader, with the challenge being to strategize and create a plan to raise the loan amount for 5 different Burkina Faso Businesses by September 20. We are going to have a challenge celebration luncheon and announce the winners, September 20th at 12:30pm (more details TBA)

The Businesses

 Josue Ouedraogo – Solaire Energy 
With Roughly 23% of the population lacking electricity in Burkina Faso, Josue and his solar panel business brings needed relief to many in the country. Through a previous loan Josue has sold and installed over 1,000 small and medium-sized solar panels for homes and businesses. Through the support of the Blue Block, Josue hopes to provide electricity to an additional 8,000 people. Access to electricity provides a safer environment and helps further economic growth.
Loan Amount – $3,000

Rouamba Toukounmogo – Retail Store
Taking his experience from his family business and his business operation skills, Rouamba and his wife decided to launch a business of their own. Seeing a present need in their local community for supplies they opened a retail/wholesale business. They are at the point where their growth is dictated by their inventory, which can not keep up with demand. They are seeking our a loan to help increase inventory and service the community better.
Loan Amount – $2,000

Lalpaga Compaore – Plastic and Kitchenware
Lalpaga is a single mother of 4 children with the desire to succeed. She created a kitchen and plasticware business to help her community with durable totes and containers. The demand is so great she can’t keep up and is seeking the Help of the Green Block so she can better meet the needs of her clientele.
Loan Amount – $1,600

Dina Zare – Clothing Store
Dina has already made a huge impact on her community with her retail clothing store. Not only does she provide the necessary clothing to her community, she also employs locals to make her clothing. Something that has given this single mother of 3 great joy. She is seeking the Orange Block’s help so she can buy more materials and increase production.
Loan Amount – $1,300
